Cohort #18 kicked off the Dutch session series, following very successful days at the INSEAD Europe Campus in Fontainebleau at the end of 2025.
We started with the legal perspective—always a strong foundation when preparing for a non-executive role. Beginning with the toughest scenarios: crisis situations, the risk of insolvency, and ultimately bankruptcy. What should you do? What should you absolutely avoid? And how do you stay clear on your role and responsibilities? And of course also the Dutch Civil and Good Govenance code.
Four highly experienced Houthoff lawyers guided us through these topics, sometimes in painful but necessary detail, showing how quickly situations can deteriorate, supported by real-life cases and examples.
The group—an enthusiastic mix of aspiring and newly appointed non-executive directors—had more questions than time allowed. A real big thank you from us all to Alexander Kaarls , Paul de Vries , F. van der Beek , and David Heems for hosting, drinks and so much more.
